SAKHA deliver their final performance this week with the track titled Desert Storm, that has been composed by the band’s Sarod player, Sarang Kulkarni. The band is mentored by Taufiq Qureshi and has been outperforming everyone through their calculated yet melodic performances week-on-week. Their latest track, Desert Storm, is based on the flavors of Hindustani Classical Raaga Basant Mukhari and the Carnatic Raaga Vakulabharanam. Sarang’s Sarod and Abhay’s counter-play with his Electric Guitar sets the tone of the track while Hansel’s Bass Guitar stand out with Keyur’s Drums providing constant support. Watch out for the trough and crest of musical tones that the entire track goes through.
Jazz Maestro Louiz Banks admits that he loves the band and the way they play music. He sees them becoming future music composers and wishes them all the best while calling this performance of theirs as near-perfect. Sitar Maestro Purbayan Chatterjee adds that he likes Keyur’s Drumming and especially likes Abhay’s Guitar-playing and the counter-play to Sarang’s Sarod. Both Maestros believe that Hansel Dias on the Bass Guitar emerges as the Anchorman in the entire performance. The band’s mentor and Percussion Maestro Taufiq Qureshi wishes the band good luck for the future and says he enjoyed being their friend and mentor through these weeks.
